Dakshin Chitra is a museum of art, architecture, lifestyles and crafts and performing arts of South India. There are 17 heritage houses created in well-designed streetscape along with performing artists and artisans exhibiting their work.
This is the door to the Chettinad House, a late 19th century merchant house in Karaikudi, Tamilnadu; a representative ancestral house of the Nattukkottai Chettiyars. In the time, they used exported Burma Teak for and used it extensively in the other house.Flooring was generally laid using Athankudi tiles.The other key architectural features consist of their system of courtyards, raised platforms for social interactions, series of rooms located around the court etc.
